It is a symbol of absolute inevitability, suggesting that free will exists only within the narrow corridors already drawn by the Book.

The room was silent, save for the soft rustle of turning pages that sounded like distant wind through dry leaves. Destiny sat motionless in his high-backed chair, his blindfolded face turned toward the tome resting on his lap.
